DhanLog Privacy Policy
How TrailsRG handles information in DhanLog.
Your finances are personal. Your data should be too.
DhanLog is designed as an offline-first personal finance app. Its financial ledger is stored locally on your device in an encrypted database. You do not need a TrailsRG account to keep or use that ledger.
TrailsRG does not operate a central service that stores your income, expenses, accounts, budgets, or transaction history. This policy describes the current DhanLog product design; features marked as planned are not available until released.
Privacy at a glance
1. Information DhanLog stores
The app is designed to store information you enter or create while using it, such as accounts, categories, transactions, budgets, opening balances, and related preferences. These records form your local financial ledger and are stored in the app's encrypted database on your device.
The app may also temporarily handle text that you deliberately share with it, for example transaction-related text from a bank notification or message. You choose whether to share that text. The reviewed v1 design does not request SMS permission or read your SMS inbox automatically.
2. How information is used
Information in the local ledger is used to provide the app's personal finance functions, such as organising accounts and categories, recording transactions, and presenting budgets and summaries. The product is designed to perform its day-to-day ledger operations on your device, including while offline.
Do not enter information you are not authorised to store. You are responsible for reviewing any text before sharing it into DhanLog.
3. Data transmission and sharing
TrailsRG does not receive or host the financial ledger as part of the current local-first design. The DhanLog project configuration reviewed for this policy does not declare advertising or analytics SDKs. This statement is limited to the DhanLog app and is not a statement about other TrailsRG website services or the Android operating system.
Your device manufacturer, Android, Google Play, and other services operating on your device may process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Network, device diagnostic, or crash processing performed by the platform is governed by those providers' settings and policies.
DhanLog does not sell your financial ledger. No third party is given access to that ledger by TrailsRG through a hosted ledger service. This does not prevent you from independently sharing information outside the app.
4. Device storage and encryption
The local database is encrypted. The database encryption key is generated on the device and protected using the Android Keystore; TrailsRG does not receive that key. Encryption helps protect stored information, but it cannot guarantee that a device or its data is immune from compromise.
Protect your device with its screen lock and keep Android and the app updated. Access to an unlocked or compromised device may expose information while the app is in use. Device reset, hardware failure, app-data removal, or loss or invalidation of the device-protected key may make local records inaccessible. Keep an independent copy of important records when an export or backup option becomes available.
5. SMS and shared text
DhanLog's planned bank-message workflow is user-initiated sharing of text into the app. The reviewed v1 design does not request SMS permissions and does not automatically read your SMS inbox. Shared text may contain personal or financial information, so review it before sharing and remove anything you do not want to store.
6. Backup and export
Encrypted file export and optional Google Drive app-data backup are planned features and are not represented as currently available. Until those features are released, this policy does not describe an active TrailsRG backup service.
When backup or export is introduced, this policy will be updated to explain the data involved, where it is stored, the role of Google or other providers, the encryption and recovery model, and how to delete backup copies. A copy stored in your Google Drive would be subject to Google's terms and your Drive account settings.
7. Retention and deletion
Your financial ledger is retained in the app's local storage until you remove the relevant records or remove the app's data. TrailsRG does not maintain a separate hosted copy of the ledger under the current design. TrailsRG therefore cannot retrieve or delete a local ledger on your behalf.
You can manage or remove records through app functionality that is available in your installed version. Removing the app or clearing its storage may permanently remove local records and may make them unrecoverable. Before doing so, make an independent copy if an export feature is available and you need to preserve your records.
8. Your choices and privacy requests
You control what financial information you enter and what text you deliberately share with DhanLog. You can stop using the app and remove its locally stored data through Android settings. Because TrailsRG does not hold the local ledger, we cannot access, correct, or erase those device-only records remotely.
9. Children's privacy
DhanLog is a personal finance utility and is not designed specifically for children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information to TrailsRG through a separate contact channel can contact us to raise the concern. The local ledger is stored on the user's device as described above.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app's features, data practices, or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the current version takes effect. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and app or store disclosures will be updated where appropriate.
