VahanLog Privacy
How Trails RG handles information in VahanLog.
Your vehicle data belongs to you.
VahanLog stores your vehicle and fuel records locally on your device. No Trails RG account is required to store that data.
Trails RG does not store your vehicle and fuel history on a centralized Trails RG server.
Google Drive backup is optional. When you use it, a backup file is stored in your own Google Drive.
Privacy at a glance
Information stored on your device
VahanLog keeps vehicles, fuel entries, running-cost calculations, and app settings in a local database on the device you are using. That database is the copy VahanLog uses day to day, including when the device is offline.
Signing out of Google does not delete that local data. Disconnecting Google Drive does not delete it, and it does not delete backup files already in your Drive.
Google sign-in
If you choose Continue with Google, VahanLog asks Google for the identity scopes needed to recognise the account: OpenID, profile, and email. That sign-in does not request access to Google Drive.
Your Google email is used to show which account is signed in. It is not the key for your vehicle database, and it is not stored as a Trails RG user profile of your vehicles or fuel.
You can use VahanLog without signing in. In that case the data stays in a local workspace on that device.
Google Drive backup
Drive access is requested only when you connect Google Drive, back up, or restore. VahanLog asks for permission to files it creates (drive.file), not for your entire Google Drive.
A backup is a VahanLog file in a folder in your Drive. It can contain your vehicles, fuel entries, and app settings so you can restore them on another device. It does not contain Google access tokens or refresh tokens.
If you set a passphrase, VahanLog encrypts the backup on your device before upload. If you leave the passphrase blank, the backup file is readable JSON in your Drive. Trails RG does not keep a copy of either file.
Restore downloads a backup you choose, shows what it contains, and replaces the local data on that device only after you confirm. It is not a live synchronisation of every edit.
Google Play
One vehicle is free. Premium, which unlocks more vehicles, is a subscription bought in the Android app through Google Play. Google processes that payment. VahanLog does not receive your card number. If the subscription ends, vehicles and fuel history already on the device stay. Adding another vehicle is what requires Premium.
Information Trails RG does not collect
- No Trails RG username or password is required
- No centralized database of vehicles, fuel, odometer readings, or expenses
- No sale of vehicle or fuel information
- No advertising based on your mileage or fuel spend
CSV export is a file you download yourself. It is not sent to Trails RG.
When you sign in or connect Drive, Google processes that request under Google's own privacy policy. Trails RG receives the account identity Google returns for sign-in, and uses a short-lived Drive access token only to create, update, read, or delete VahanLog backup files you ask for.

Children
VahanLog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Use VahanLog without a Google sign-in
- Skip Google Drive and keep data only on the device
- Export a CSV for your own records
- Delete the local VahanLog data from the device
- Delete a Drive backup yourself; VahanLog does not delete those files when you disconnect Drive

We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do.
